The Virgin Kitesurf World Championships (VKWC) are debuting a new tournament format at the Mundial Isla de Coche 2015, in Venezuela.

"The Dingle" replaces the former single and double elimination format in freestyle competitions. In Round 1, there will be heats of three competitors taking place.

The winners of each heat advance directly into Round 3, while second and third positioned riders have to compete in Round 2. The format is inspired by the World Surf League (WSL).

This new ladder gives riders a second chance to compete even if they lose their Round 1 clash. From Round 2 on, heats of two take place and the loser is immediately eliminated.

With the completely new scoring system, six international judges break down tricks into 50% technique and 50% intensity. The average of the judging scores per criteria leads to the final trick score.

It's a better system for spectators, and for riders who are able to analyze why they obtained less or more points for each trick. Isla de Coche will see the improvements fully introduced in the competition.

The world's best kiteboarding freestylers will have the chance to ride in a 500-meter stretch of white sand beach, with pristine flat water and steady off-shore winds.
