World Skate announced the official list of skateboarders that will participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Skateboarding will make its historic Olympic debut in a skatepark especially built for the occasion in the heart of the Japanese cap(ITA)l.

After a long qualification process, 40 male and 40 female skaters will finally wave their countries' flags in a very special event.

The first-ever Olympic skateboarders hail from 26 different nations.

They will simultaneously fight for gold, silver, and bronze medals and carry the responsibility of inspiring new-generation sidewalk surfers.

Olympic skateboarding will showcase two disciplines - park and street - and will inspire people to try the sport for the first time or push their limits and improve their skills.

"We should expect great things from all the skateboarders involved," stresses Sabatino Aracu, president of World Skate.

"When you wrangle the best athletes in the world and throw them under the microscope, they'll prove - as skaters do - that they can take on any obstacle that lies ahead."

Skateboarding in the Olympic Games runs from July 25-26 (street) and August 4-5 (park).
