Avril Lavigne: a surfing celebrity

Singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne was seen surfing and improving her skills in the water on several occasions.

In 2010, the young star went standup paddleboarding in Malibu. The next year, she was spotted in Hawaii and a few months later in Australia, where she surfed a four-foot wave for the first time.

Avril Lavigne was born on the 27th September, 1984, in Belleville, Ontario.

She started singing at the age of two, at church. In 1999, Lavigne performed with Shania Twain at the Corel Centre, after winning a radio contest.

At 16, she landed a two-album recording contract and became famous in 2002 after her debut album "Let Go" releasing, which sold more than 16 million copies.

Lavigne recorded five albums so far and is considered one of the best-selling artists releasing albums in the US.

Besides her music career, Avril Lavigne also co-writes songs for other artists, like Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis, acted in movies like "Over the Hedge" and "Fast Food Nation and designs for her fashion and lifestyle brand "Abbey Dawn".
