Barack Obama is a surfing celebrity

US President Barack Obama displayed his bodysurfing skills in Hawaii in 2008, while he was still a candidate to the US presidency.

He was born on the 4th August, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, having grown up in the archipelago and Jakarta.

Obama graduated from Columbia University in 1983 and after some work experience, namely at the Developing Communities Project in Chicago, he entered Harvard Law School, graduating in 1991.

His political path began in 1996, when he won the Illinois State Senate election, and in 2004, he was elected to the US Senate.

In 2008, Barack Obama won the democratic primaries against Hillary Clinton and defeated republican candidate John McCain in the general election, becoming the first African American President of the United States of America.

The 44th President of the United States was reelected in 2012, serving a second term.
