Cristiano Ronaldo
The international football star Cristiano Ronaldo was born on February 5th, 1985, in Santo António, Madeira.
The Portuguese footballer started playing at the local Clube de Futebol Andorinha de Santo António. He moved to Clube Desportivo Nacional in 1995, and his skills ended up leading him to Sporting Clube de Portugal, in Lisbon.
At only the age of eighteen Cristiano Ronaldo signed with Manchester United. In 2009, he moved to Real de Madrid, where he currently plays, through one of the most expensive transactions in football history.
Ronaldo is also captain of the Portuguese national team. In 2004, he helped Portugal reach the final in the Euro 2004 competition and was one of the joint-top scorers in the Euro 2012.
He was distinguished with the FWA Footballer of the Year award in 2007 and 2008, the FIFA World Players award in 2008, two European Golden Shoe in 2008 and 2011 and two FIFA Ballon d'Or in 2008 and 2013.
