Eddie Vedder: surfer and rock star

Pearl Jam's frontman Eddie Vedder has an old and deep passion for surfing.

He is a very active surfer and a good friend of Kelly Slater, Laird Hamilton and Jack Johnson, among other famous surfers.

Vedder and Slater were seen surfing together in Makaha Beach, in 2010.

The American singer, musician and songwriter was born on the 23rd December, 1964, in Evanston, Illinois.

He spent most of his youth in Southern California and started playing in San Diego Bands in his twenties.

In 1990, he joined the alternative rock band Pearl Jam as the lead vocalist. Their debut album quickly became one of the best-selling alternative records of the 1990s.

The powerful vocalist recorded 10 albums with Pearl Jam and also released two solo albums: the first in 2007, as the soundtrack of the film "Into The Wild", and the second, "Ukulele Songs", in 2011.

Eddie Vedder was ranked number seven on the "Best Lead Singers of All Time" list.
