Michael Rodrigues and Coco Ho conquered the Oceano Santa Catarina Pro 2014, an ASP 6-Star event held at Praia da Joaquina, Florianopolis, in Brazil.

Rodrigues defeated Santiago Muniz, the younger brother of Dream Tour campaigner Alejo Muniz, with a wide collection of aerials and moves on the small wave faces.

"I feel pretty emotional right now. I wasn't expecting this victory. I sustained an injury awhile back, and when I started surfing again, I said to myself that I would train hard as if each day were my last. But I still can't believe that I won," says Rodrigues.

"I've been working on some different airs and it's given me more confidence to pull them out in competition. I've been surfing in every condition this week here at Joaquina and this result here has given me a lot more confidence. I'm not going to Hawaii this year, but next year I intend to surf in every major event on the QS to try and get onto the WCT (World Championship Tour)."

Coco Ho triumphed in the Women's event, after defeating Keely Andrew. The Hawaiian has also become the surfer with the most wins in South America on the women's Qualifying Series (QS).

"That's sick, yeah that's three wins already. It feels great. To win again is phenomenal. The final was really fun. It was all about who got the best waves," expresses Ho.

"I was pretty stoked that I got that 9.00, and it set the pace. It felt really good and I got it without having priority. I just saw the little wall, and I knew I had to go."
