The Billabong Pipe Masters will decide the 2014 ASP World Tour champion. Only one of three surfers will raise the cup. Will it be Gabriel Medina, Mick Fanning or Kelly Slater?

At Banzai Pipeline, on the Oahu's North Shore, everyone's ready. It's time to crown an event champion, in memory of Andy Irons, but it is also time to crown a Triple Crown of Surfing winner and a season champion.

There's too much at stake, and all pro surfers know they can change the course of history. Mother Nature is doing its job - a strong swell prepares to hit the final stage of the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour, in the first days of competition.

And you know what must happen for your to see your favorite surfer raising the trophy:

1. If Medina finishes 2nd or better at the Billabong Pipe Masters, he will clinch the 2014 ASP World Title.
2. If Medina finishes 3rd at the Billabong Pipe Masters, Fanning will need to win the event, and Slater will be out of contention.
3. If Medina finishes 5th at the Billabong Pipe Masters, Fanning will need to win the event, and Slater will be out of contention.
4. If Medina finishes 9th at the Billabong Pipe Masters, Fanning will need to finish 2nd or better, and Slater will be out of contention.
5. If Medina finishes 13th or 25th at the Billabong Pipe Masters, Fanning will need to finish 3rd to win or 5th to send the title race into a one-heat "surf-off" between himself and Medina.
6. If Medina finishes 13th or 25th at the Billabong Pipe Masters, Slater will need to win the event.

A potential "surf-off" would mean a clash with a format determined by Commissioners office and the Tour Manager. It can be a (best of) three-heat challenge or, if there is not enough time, a single heat of minimum 35 minutes.

The 2014 Billabong Pipe Masters features an ASP Heritage Series heat, the Women's Pipe Masters Invitational, and will decide the upcoming 2015 World Surf League roster. The ultimate surfing showdown is run between December 8th-20th.
