Thiago Camarao: surfing small waves is not easy | Photo: Poullenot/WSL

Thiago Camarao and Chelsea Tuach have conquered the 2015 Pantin Classic Galicia Pro, in Spain.

Camarao defeated fellow countryman Deivid Silva in the 35-minute final held in the small one-to-two-foot surf at Pantin, near Ferrol. A 7.83 righthander was critical to deciding the winner of the event.

"It's amazing, it's my first final on the QS, and it feels really good. I believed in me and my chances all contest. All the other guys were ripping, and I really had to keep my focus and stay positive and motivated," explains Thiago Camarao.

"Deivid got active early and was taking so many waves, with the conditions deteriorating I wasn't sure I was going to get the opportunity to fight back. Then I found that little double up and got the score, so I stuck to him and tried to keep him off any other good wave."

On the women's side, Chelsea Tuach stole the win over Leticia Canales, in a low-scoring final at Pantin. The surfer from Barbados dreams of making into the elite next season.

"I've had a lot of heartbreakers this year and what happened was I would panic and go for bad waves. So I took all of my knowledge from all those bad heats and tried to play a perfect heat," revealed Tuach.

"To be competing against the very best surfers in the world next year is so exciting, I'm going to work hard with my coach to get strong and try to come out guns blazing when the season starts."
