The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach 2016 reached Round 4, and only one world champion is still up and riding.

Adriano De Souza, Kelly Slater, John John Florence, and Gabriel Medina are out of the game. The top seeds failed to impress the judges, and Mick Fanning is the only big name in contention for the title.

The Australian continues his relaxed odyssey at Bells Beach. Fanning defeated the always dangerous Hawaiian Dusty Payne and chases a fifth event victory at the iconic break.

"Down here at Bells you can see the huge crowd and it's amazing, and you hear everything out there, which is really cool. Just looking back on this whole grandstand and this natural amphitheater, it is such a beautiful place. This is one of my favorite events. I just want to put on a performance and enjoy my time here," said Fanning.

Conner Coffin is fired up. The American eliminated Joel Parkinson with two eight-point rides. He chose the right waves and gave his best.

"The last time I surfed against Joel, man-on-man, was at Trestles a couple of years ago when I had a wildcard from Hurley, and he smoked me. I learned a lot from surfing against him that time, so it is nice to have had those opportunities in the past and use that going forward," added Coffin.

Caio Ibelli won't forget this day. The Brazilian defeated John John Florence by a very narrow margin - 0.04 points.

"I found those last two waves halfway through the heat. I decided to trade my board for a bigger board than I was riding yesterday and it worked. I am really happy to make it through this heat," noted Ibelli.
