The list of candidates for the 2016/2017 Titans of Mavericks has been released.

Committee 5, the governing body of the Titans of Mavericks, released the preliminary list of 56 chargers aligned for the big wave surfing event. Of all candidates, only 22 (plus two wildcards/alternates) will put on the official jersey.

The second edition of the Titans of Mavericks will feature a group of women competing alongside men - Andrea Moller, Emily Erickson, Maya Gabeira, and Paige Alms might get a ticket to the main event.

The contest window for the 2016/2017 Titans of Mavericks opens November 1st, 2016 and closes on the 31st March 2017. The opening ceremony will be held on the 21st October.

Mavericks is one of the biggest, and most dangerous waves breaking on the California coast. The surf spot is located 20 minutes south of San Francisco, and half a mile offshore from Pillar Point Harbor.

Nic Lamb won the inaugural edition of the Titans of Mavericks.
