Six months after filing for bankruptcy, Quiksilver, Inc. announced a new corporate name for the firm.

Boardriders, Inc. is the new company behind three historic surf brands: Quiksilver, Roxy, and DC Shoes.

The decision to change the name signals the birth of the newly reorganized entity managed by Oaktree.

"The company has spent the last 18 months focused on rebuilding its foundation from the bottom up, and the results are showing," notes Dave Tanner, Chief Turnaround Officer at Boardriders.

The surf company is also planning the opening of the first Boardriders store in the American continent.

The new shopping center will be in Malibu, California, and open in Fall 2017.

The Quiksilver surf team includes 25 athletes, including Jeremy Flores, Kanoa Igarashi, Leonardo Fioravanti, Tom Carroll, Jamie Mitchell, Robby Naish, and Aritz Aranbur.

The products by Boardriders are currently sold in more than 115 countries. In 2015, the company reported sales of $1.35 billion.
