Weedmaps: online legal marijuana community bought a surf house at Pipeline

Laid-back tunes, nice vibes, perfect waves, and a marijuana cigarette. Weedmaps seems to be slowly stepping into surfing with subtle, yet high-profile moves.

The online legal marijuana community bought a house at Pipeline and invited pro surfers and skateboarders to join the private club.

Bruce Irons, Nathan Fletcher, Joel Tudor and Dustin Barca have already surfed for the Weedmaps team. And, apparently, everything's fine - cannabis is cool and socially acceptable. "There's nothing unhealthy here," says Dustin Barca.

So, despite all scientific studies which underline the potentially negative medium-term effects of smoking weed, the marijuana industry continues gaining enthusiasts in the sports world, and becoming an active sponsor in surfing.

"It's a beautiful thing," concludes Irons. It might be Bruce, but we're not on your side on this one. Medical marijuana is one thing; surfing under marijuana is something totally different.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved surfing's qualification system for the Tokyo 2020.
