Logan Kamen has taken out the 2017 Easterns Surfing Championships, at Jennette's Pier, in Nags Head, North Carolina. He won the Open, Junior and Boys divisions.

Despite the storm surf conditions kindly provided by hurricanes Jose and Maria, the organizers found the ideal clean, double-overhead waves to crown the Open champions.

The event run by the Eastern Surfing Association (ESA) celebrated its 50th anniversary and has once again crowned the best amateur surfers on the East Coast.

Kamen joins a long list of ESA champions, which includes iconic surfers and legends of the sport such as Mike Oppenheimer, Maury McCoy, Kelly Slater, Cory and Shea Lopez, CJ Hobgood, and Gabe Kling.

The stand-up paddleboard (SUP) also made its debut at the Easterns. Several athletes had their leash broken, and many other lost their paddles after wiping out in the high surf. In the end, Brycen Jernigan was crowned champion.

In the last day of competition, the conditions improved and the young guns put out a fantastic display of surfing. Logan Kamen was once again the stand-out surfer, winning two more trophies.

"I arrived focused and excited to compete in six-to-ten-foot surf. It was an honor to be here and win three titles as that 10 in my Junior Men final was definitely one to remember," expressed Kamen.
