Jack Medland has been crowned the 2018 Western Australia longboard champion.

The event got underway in pumping conditions at Parry's Beach in Denmark. Western Australia's best loggers were greeted by three-foot waves, long walls, and even barrels.

Medland not only won the Open Men's division, but he also added the Open Logger state championship title to his trophy room.

The longboarder from Marmion carefully picked the best waves and applied the right moves in the critical moments of his rides.

"There's always great serenity down here, and having it at Parry's has been amazing. There have been some great longboard waves on offer, and I'm stoked to take out the double win, and I'm looking forward to the Aussie Titles," expressed Medland.

On the women's side, Georgia Young, from Swanbourne, imposed her precision riding over her direct opponents and took home her fifth state title.

"It's always such an adventure coming to Denmark. I think I won my first Open Women's State Title back in 2009, and all these years on, I still love pulling on a vest and competing," added Young.

A total of 12 new champions have been crowned. They will represent Western Australia at the Australian Surf Festival, on the Tweed Coast, NSW, in August.
