Big wave surfer Anthony Ruffo was arrested at his house in possession of more than an ounce of near-pure methamphetamine.

Ruffo had already had problems with drugs in 2004. At that time, he pleaded guilty to felony meth possession. Earlier, in 1998, Anthony Ruffo was charged with possessing of marijuana for sale and attended anti-drug programs.

The 46-year-old surfer from Santa Cruz appears in the documentary "The Westsiders", a film about the surfing gang of Steamer Lane.

Before the police entered Ruffo's house, a young woman tried to flush methamphetamine down the toilet.

Nazaré probably is the most powerful beach break. The Portuguese big wave surfing spot is as exciting as it will test your limits - as a surfer and as a human being.
