Andy Irons Paddle Out: Hanalei Bay was small for so many friends

Thousands of Hawaiian surfers gathered at Hanalei Bay for a very special and emotional moment.

To celebrate the life and greatness of Andy Irons is always inspirational. Friends, family, fans, and surfing enthusiasts remembered their man.

Bruce Irons led the paddle out and the double-hull canoe that carried Andy's wife, Lyndie, to the circle of all thoughts.

Tears were shed between smiles as the ashes of Andy were released into the sea. At the same time, a helicopter poured flowers from the sky.

In Huntington Beach, Los Angeles, 3000 mourners paid tribute to AI.

Reverend Summo, a friend of the Irons family, noted that Andy "was a gift from God, as is the very act of riding waves. He was special to all of us."

The tributes will not be forgotten, and the Andy memories will forever live in every surfer's heart and soul.

There's a tribute photo gallery dedicated to Andy Irons.
