Jacqueline Silva: get back to the water soon, girl

Jacqueline Silva has been injured in a car accident, on the Surf Coast Highway, Australia. The Brazilian pro surfer was driving to the first day of competition at the Bells Beach Surf Classic, from Geelong to Torquay.

The 31-year-old surfer has been hit by another car driving in the opposite direction that swerved across the road.

The man driving the second car was believed to have "blacked out" before hitting Silva's car. The Victoria Police spokeswoman says both drivers were taken to Geelong Hospital with minor injuries.

"Her car's pretty beat up, She was taken to hospital I think predominantly for precautionary reasons", says Dane Sharp, Rip Curl media manager.

It is still uncertain if Jacqueline Silva is going to hit the waves of the Rip Curl Women’s Pro Bells Beach. The Brazilian surfer girl is an experienced rider and has been surfing the Dream Tour for years.

In 2002, Silva was ASP World Tour's runner-up.

Rob Bain, Layne Beachley, and Dave Macaulay have taken out the Azores Airlines World Masters Championship in the Grand Masters, Women's Masters and Men's Masters divisions held in good three-foot surf at Praia de Santa Barbara.
