World Surfing Games 2008

The Portuguese government announced today the opening of seven surf centres in the country.

Laurentino Dias, the Portuguese secretary of state for youth and sports, attended the third day of the 2008 World Surfing Games and greeted the european wave riders with astonishing news.

«We have to support those sports in which Portugal has good natural conditions, like surfing. So, during the World Surfing Games, I would like to announce that the government will open seven surf centres throughout the country. One will be located here in Costa de Caparica», Laurentino Dias said.

The 2008 World Surfing Games are being held in Costa de Caparica, Portugal. More than 200 athletes from 27 countries are competing in the event.
