Mick Fanning: the sound of focus

Mick Fanning has got a bulged disk in his my neck, since August, and has pulled from the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. The Australian bullet has been feeling pain in his left arm during his surf training sessions, so he decided to take a rest and fully recover.

Fanning had a strange 2011. He was runner up at Bells Beach and Jeffreys Bay and then six equal-13ths that dropped him to the 11th ASP World Tour position.

After the Portuguese stage, in Peniche, he commented on his recent results. "The boys are gonna start calling me '13' soon I've had that many Round Three losses".

But Mick is not fading away. The surfer has his eyes in the upcoming season. The first stage of the 2012 ASP World Tour will be surfed at Snapper Rocks, where Fanning will certainly show off his extraordinary talent and experience.

The 2012 ASP World Tour is going to visit eight countries. Check the full calendar of the season.

Nazaré probably is the most powerful beach break. The Portuguese big wave surfing spot is as exciting as it will test your limits - as a surfer and as a human being.
