Europe: waves and surfing for everyone

"The Old, the Young & the Sea" is a surf movie about surfing in the Old Continent.

A team of cinematographers, photographers and storytellers is traveling from Hossegor to Ericeira to discover the people who inhabit, visit, surf and protect the European shores.

Two old VW buses looking for surf. All along the Atlantic coast, the crew is documenting Hossegor, Mundaka, Pantin, Ericeira and many surf spots along the way.

It's as diverse as diversity gets. Time doesn't stand still though, nowhere, and changes might bring the good, the bad and the ugly: crowded beaches commercialization of surfing culture, pollution of land and water, urban sprawl.

The European classic surf route has waves for all tastes. Emerging mass tourism puts pressure on regions formerly known as haven of peace and silence.

All this doesn't just affect you, as a surfer – but first and foremost the people who are living along those shores.

So, "The Old, the Young & the Sea" is the movie that portraits those lifestyles along the coast, it's diversity and recent changes. The surf film wants to give those people a voice, who know the best: the locals.

It puts the viewer in the position of a visitor connected to the events happening around him. It's an invitation to see those lands not just as mere destinations, but living locations.

Whether you think of a kite as a wing or a sail, you want it to be lightweight, resistant, waterproof, but also stiff and flexible at the same time, so that they could respond to all flight requests.
