Cloudbreak: go Mark Healey | Photo: Joli

Peter Joli Wilson and "Storm Surfers 3D" have conquered the 2013 Nikon Surf Photo & Movie of the Year.

These awards are hotly contested by the cream of Australia's surf photographers and filmmakers, who constantly raise the bar in their pursuit of quintessential surf imagery.

Big wave surfer Mark Healey has undone his leg-rope and is trying to penetrate the face of the wave as a huge wave rolls through Cloudbreak. The moment was captured by Peter Joli Wilson and the Nikon Surf Photo of the Year 2013 award is entirely deserved.

"Storm Surfers 3D", an epic adventure-documentary following Aussie tow-surfing legend Ross Clarke-Jones, two-time world champion Tom Carroll and surf forecaster Ben Matson, on their quest to find and ride the biggest, most dangerous waves in Australia won the Nikon Surf Movie of the Year 2013 award.

Using state-of-the-art 3D camera technology, Storm Surfers 3D offers a truly immersive experience for the audience – inside the barrel of a 30 foot wave.

The prize in each award was RRP $6000 worth of Nikon photographic equipment.
