The Slyder Cup: no fins in da board

The Slyder Cup, a finless wave riding surf contest, will make its debut on the 13th April, at Lusty Glaz, Newquay, UK.

The innovative surf event is a one-day surf competition that celebrates the art of wavesliding from a finless perspective with an emphasis on good vibes, good rides and good times.

Call the alternative breed of surfers - bellyboarders, body surfers, paipo riders, handplaners, mat surfers and alaia rider - and you've got the Slyder Cup.

The Grand Final will see the winners of each division go head to head, in a surf-off and the Slyder Cup champion will be crowned. It's all about the style of your glide, your skill on your slyde and the laying of your lines.

Shapers will also be invited to the event to pass on tips and advice and to showcase their alternative surf craft. The Shapers Shield will invite board makers to designate their riders to ride and win the title.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved surfing's qualification system for the Tokyo 2020.
