Stephanie Gilmore: nice dress

Stephanie Gilmore has won the "Best Female Action Sport Athlete" award at the 2013 ESPYS ceremony held in Los Angeles.

The Australian surfer beat Kelly Clark, Leticia Bufoni and Laia Sanz. It's Gilmore's second ESPY award victory.

"The ESPYS are very strongly aimed at an American audience," Steph said. "So to break into that world and get an award as an Australian athlete was really special for me."

"I had nothing at all to wear because I was in France and I flew in the night before," Steph laughed. "I went into LA that morning and bought the dress from Stella McCartney 'cause she's so badass."

The ESPYS gather top celebrities from sports and entertainment to commemorate the past year in sports by recognizing major sports achievements, reliving unforgettable moments and saluting the leading performers and performances.

The Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPYS) is promoted by ESPN.
