Luca Carlisle: there are good surfers in Switzerland

Luca Carlisle and Rachel Mead are the new 2013 Swiss Surfing champions.

Despite living in a country without natural waves, seas or oceans, there are fully committed Swiss wave riders.

The Swiss Surfing Championships 2013 were held at San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria, Spain.

The opening day of competition was held in small-to-micro small wave conditions, but the contest had to be run. Nevertheless, the 35 competitors made the best of it.

The finals were surfed in good conditions. Rachel Mead surfed the best waves to be crowned the 2013 Swiss queen of surfing. Alena Ehrenbold, Andrea Rodrigues, Alina Müller, Anne Albert and Stefanie Spring completed the Women's rankings.

The Men's division had 28 surfers. Carlisle dominated the competition and will be part of the Swiss Surfing Team which will participate in the ISA World Surfing Games.
