Adriano de Souza: Brazilian surf idol

Adriano de Souza has suffered and injury in the Maldives. Currently sitting in the number one place of the 2011 ASP World Tour ranking, the Brazilian surfer expects to return in full power to competition for the 2011 Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay, in South Africa.

Souza has been training hard in Northern Sumatra and in the Maldives. The 24-year-old rider suffered an injury in right knee while free surfing.

The Brazilian returned to Sao Paulo where Dr. Pablo Barone, a knee specialist, confirmed he will recover until the next pro surfing event. It seems age and genetics will help him get back to the water in ten days.

Barone believes Adriano suffered a light sprain and this won't put his title hopes in jeopardy. de Souza leads the Dream Tour with 20500 points.

He is followed by Joel Parkinson with 19200 points and Kelly Slater with 16950. The best three surfers have already won an event each in the 2011 ASP World Tour. The 2011 Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay will kick off on July 14th.
