Anthony Fillingim is the 2014 Latin Pro Tour champion

Anthony Fillingim has been crowned champion of the 2014 Latin Pro Tour, at Las Flores, El Salvador.

The circuit run by the Latin American Association of Surfing Professionals (ALAS) concluded the six-event series in perfect wave conditions.

The competition included surfers from the Latin countries of the American continent: Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Republica Dominicana, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Guadaloupe and Trinidad Tobago.

Fillingim became the first Costa Rican surfer to win the Latin Pro Tour title in the Open category. He celebrated with his family on the beach. Ronald Reyes took the Longboard honors.

Then it was Sebastian Gomez, winner of the SUP division, who managed to win the event and steal the overall title from the hands of his own father, Jose "Jarita."

Joaquin del Castillo, from Peru, won the final contest of the Pro Junior division and the season's trophy. In the Women's category, Dominic Barona showed why she is one of the strongest surfers in America by putting out a flawless performance in the waves of Las Flores.
