Jaws opened the 2014/2015 big wave surfing season. Once again Peahi came to life, but only a handful of watermen heard the call from Mother Nature.

Grant "Twiggy" Baker, Ian Walsh, Kai Lenny, Paige Alms, Tyler Larronde, Shaun Walsh, Yuri Soledade. You probably know these guys. Yes, they're the ones who wake up early to risk their lives in the ocean.

The Bering Sea Superstorm developed in the far NW Pacific Ocean and sent huge swell to the Hawaiian Islands. Maui got it right; the Oahu's North Shore didn't.

The clean wave conditions allowed spectacular performances and impressive wipeouts. The South African charger and Dorian got the waves of the day, on the 11th and 12th.

The rides have automatically entered the Billabong XXL circus, but the best moment - and the most educational as well - is when Shane high-fives his friend and sometimes occasional rival "Twig" Baker, after an astonishing Jaws glide.

"Yesterday was opening day at Jaws, and it didn't disappoint. There were a couple of scary ones. Winter is here and it's great to be back in the lineup with a solid crew charging hard and being stoked," expressed Dorian. uses cookies to ensure you get the best experience on our website.
