John Baxendale, the engineer behind Wave Master, promises a new artificial wave technology that produces 240 waves per hour, with no compressed air systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
Who's going to build the ultimate surf pool? The number of artificial wave concepts hasn't kept growing in the last decade. The financial sustainability of surf parks has always been the Achilles heel of man-made surf.
But Wave Master Systems believe to have solved the problem of performance and energy efficiency with a piston-type modular wave generator that matches real ocean waves.
"My wavemaker technology can produce consistent, top-quality waves at a rate of 240 waves per hour. That's double the rate of other wave pool systems currently in operation. I can offer wave pool operators a high-performance yet cost-effective mode of wave production," explains John Baxendale, the founder of Wave Master.
"It can produce single waves on demand or new waves every fifteen seconds. It is this repetition rate that is head and shoulders above the competition."
The British technology has no pumps or water jets, and it doesn't need dangerous underwater profiles for pumping a rideable wave every 15 seconds for 100 meters.
"The size of the wave pool would be about two hectares excluding support facilities and include a sandy beach, grassed recreation areas, and a family area beyond the surfing zone," adds Baxendale, who believes he has the best artificial wave pool concept in the market.
"Allowing for an efficiency of 65%, the overall power consumption would be approximately 650 Kilowatts."
