2019 Silver Dragon Shootout: the famous Silver Dragon tidal bore delivered the goods

The 2019 Battle at the Silver Dragon, also known as the Silver Dragon Shootout, ended up with a draw.

Nine teams from all corners of the globe have hit the waves of the world-renowned Qiantang River in the city of Hangzhou, China.

Eighteen surfers battled it out in the famous Silver Dragon tidal bore for a prize pool of $15,000.

Thousands of spectators witness the experienced competitors taking on the chocolate-colored waves, which often delivered tube riding opportunities and reached eight feet in height.

In the end, the judges were not able to conclusively crown a single champion and decided it was a draw.

Romain Laulhé and PV Laborde (France), as well as Dale Staples and Shaun Payne (South Africa), claimed the overall title.

"It's not about fame or money. This week has been about passion and friendship. The event was insane. It was an incredible week and a fantastic experience to surf the world's largest tidal bore," expressed Laulhé and Laborde.
