Kanoa Igarashi and Sage Erickson have taken out the won the 29th Pantin Classic Galicia Pro, in Spain.

The surfer from Huntington Beach is not enjoying a stellar rookie year in Championship Tour (CT), but his Qualifying Series (QS) season is quite impressive. Igarashi jumped to fifth place, after his win in the Spanish waves.

The final, held in five-foot surf, had him against three well-known Brazilian forces. Michael Rodrigues, Ian Gouveia, and Tomas Hermes. But the Californian wonder boy did not feel intimidated.

Kanoa Igarashi only rode three waves, and his first two were enough to steal the title from the Brazilian armada. Using his solid rail game, he built a comfortable total heat score of 16.43 points.

"I wouldn't be happy with any other result, and I'm stoked this week went my way. I had a really fun event and was enjoying every second of it," revealed Igarashi.

"With this win, a lot of pressure comes off my back. I'm enjoying the tour so much, the last thing I want is to get off it so any way to re-qualify will do."

On the women's side, Sage Erickson narrowly defeated Pauline Ado in tricky ocean conditions. Despite the large and powerful closeout sets, the American managed to secure the win with a last and decisive wave. It's her second win in Pantin.

"It's been an incredible final. I can't believe I got that last wave. I just came to shore and fell to my knees thanking God for sending me that. I came up the hill, and all those people were cheering like nothing before, and that feeling of support just made me cry," explained Erickson.

"You want to be in a guaranteed spot for the World Tour next year, and this gets me a little closer to the guarantee. Hopefully, I won't need this QS and one of the girls that have been surfing amazing will get a spot if I can qualify through the CT."
