Kael Walsh: the future world surfing champion

Kael Walsh and Kobie Enright have stormed the Australian Junior Surfing titles, at at Roaring Beach, in Tasmania.

Beautiful surf conditions blessed Tasmania, with clean one-meter (3 feet) waves and plenty of sun. Queensland proved to be the strongest state and can claim bragging rights as Australia's best state for producing great junior surfers.

The new division created this year, Under 14 Boys and Girls, saw epic performances from Kael Walsh and Kobie Enright, who both scored outstanding nine-point rides in their finals to take the titles.

"I can't believe I've won, when I heard the nine-point scores I was excited and figured I was leading and to win the first one is amazing", says Kael Walsh

"I want to be like Taj Burrow, he's my favourite surfer and I watch him surf at home all the time".

Walsh, just 13 year of age, won in style by amassing the event's highest heat tally of 18.65 made up of two outstanding wave scores of a 9.65 and a 9.

Kobie Enright, from Tweed Heads, found her nine-point ride with seconds remaining in her final to go from third to first.

"I knew I needed a good score and when I caught that final ride it just felt right. It peeled all the way and allowed for heaps of great turns and I won. I can't believe it".
