Koa Smith shares third-person view of a Skeleton Bay barrel
If there's one person who genuinely loves Skeleton Bay's endless barreling runs, it's Koa Smith.
The professional surfer from Kauai, Hawaii, is becoming a habitué at the famous Namibian left-hander.
But this time, Smith brings us a different perspective from his tube-riding stunts.
Actually, he was shooting in Indonesia when a huge swell popped up on the forecast. So, he called the trip a wrap and flew 40 hours to Skeleton Bay.
"Africa has a special place in my heart. It kind of controls and rules my life and my world! And it is so fun capturing the tube from these new angles," explained Koa Smith.
The Hawaiian wore a waist belt equipped with stabilizer straps and a waterproof 360-degree action camera attached to the tip of the pole.
The footage is not always clear and perfect, but when the photo gear and angle align with the wave and the riding conditions, it is quite impressive.
Interestingly, on many occasions, the camera pole seems to disappear from the video, which makes the clip even more fun and magnificent.
