Maxime Huscenot defeated Nomme Mignot to conquer the 2015 Soöruz Lacanau Pro, held in bumpy three-to-five foot surf, at Lacanau, in France.

The competition was completely dominated by French surfers, who made the most of local knowledge to dominate the shifty beach break of Grande Plage.

Huscenot used his powerful backhand snaps to take an early advantage over Mignot, who had already won the Junior division. After an 8.50 wave, Maxime backed it up with a 7.10.

"My first QS win, I'm super stoked. It's just pure joy right now, especially cause I have friends here with me. I've put a lot of work into it and have had some good results in the major events, and I'm really happy it paid off today."

"I'm sure this result will help my current situation on the rankings, but there's a long road ahead still to make the cut so I'll keep my focus for the future events. We're going to have fun waves in the next event, and I'll just try to have as much fun as I had here."

Maxime Huscenot collects 3,000 points and will climb the rankings towards a potential qualification for the elite World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour.
