Mick Fanning: bottom turning for world domination

Mick Fanning keeps chasing the third world surfing title. The Australian has entered Round 4 of the Rip Curl Pro Portugal 2013, at Supertubos, Peniche.

Fanning beat West Australian wildcard Jacob Willcox to take his quest for a third world title one heat closer. The thing is he needs to claim the Portuguese crown.

"I guess with anyone you want to put them under pressure early and make them try that little bit harder", Fanning reveals.

"I was just lucky, he went for the lefts, I was concentrating on the rights and I got two scores and then I was just trying to better some scores and see what else was out there."

World title contender Jordy Smith held out dangerous Portuguese wildcard Frederico Morais in the highly, anticipated Round 3 match-up that didn't disappoint.

South African Smith proved too strong for his 21-year-old opponent who had caused the upset of the event by eliminating 11-time ASP World Tour champion Kelly Slater, in Round 2.

Julian Wilson was struggling to find a decent score halfway through his Round 3 bout facing Damien Hobgood, when he launched into one of the highest Alley-Oops ever witnessed in the history of professional surfing to net the first perfect 10 point ride of the event.
