Sebastian Zietz: confirmed in the 2013 ASP World Tour

Sebastian Zietz has conquered the Reef Hawaiian Pro 2012, in Haleiwa, Hawaii. The surfer from Kaui has secured a seat in the 2013 ASP World Tour.

Zietz has sealed the first major win of his five-year pro surfing career. The 24-year-old surfer defeated John John Florence, Fredrick Patacchia and Alejo Muniz in the final heat of the Reef Hawaiian Pro 2012.

"I've had a few injuries over the years, and they're all healed up so I just believed in myself and I'm super stoked. I kept my head down and whoever I drew it didn't matter, I was just in a heat against myself", said Zietz.

Florence came back with a late charge that included a near-perfect 9.2-point ride with a reverse 360 air, only to see Zietz answer back with a 9.43. He now leads the 2012 Triple Crown of Surfing race.

"Sunset's a tricky one for me. I've never really done good there, but I've never done too well at Haleiwa either, so hopefully this could be my year. If I get into Pipe, I'll be super ecstatic, I love surfing contests there."

John John Florence has put the world title pressure behind him and is looking forward to defend Triple Crown of Surfing title.

"You know, the extra money is always good, you're really stoked on that, but I think the prestige of actually winning the Triple Crown is really the main thing."

Up next is the Vans World Cup of Surfing, running from the 25th November to the 6th December.
