Six quarterfinalists have been decided at the 2015 Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal, in Peniche.

The competition moved to the backup site of Molhe Leste, where pro surfers battled strong currents, shifty peaks, onshore winds, and waves in the three-to-eight-foot range.

Jeremy Flores seemed comfortable in the new surf spot. The French advanced through to the quarterfinals, in a tough heat against local hero Vasco Ribeiro and Keanu Asing.

"It's definitely fun out there; it's a lot more powerful than it looks and very hard to hold on especially on the last turns because it moves so much. I've had a freesurf before the event started and changed boards just before I got out for my heat for a bigger board," explained Flores.

Italo Ferreira had a sensational performance in his Round 4 clash against Gabriel Medina and Michel Bourez. The Brazilian posted the highest single wave score of the day with an incredible floater and a backside re-entry.

"I'm super stoked to make this heat and with good scores, I changed my board today because the waves are bigger, and I needed more drive. I'm feeling so good right now, and I'll focus on the next heat; it's great to be in the quarters," added Ferreira.

Joel Parkinson enjoyed a long ride, and judges recognized his effort. The Australian eliminated Kolohe Andino, who managed to win the 2015 Portuguese Waves Series.

"It's a really good location; it's a fun wave. It has that slingshot effect, and I was buzzing to get out there. At Trestles, I surfed against Felipe in the quarters, and I had a meltdown so hopefully this time I can make it worth my while, especially if we're waiting until Saturday," concluded Parkinson.
