Supertubos: the European version of Banzai Pipeline

Peniche, the capital of European surfing, is ready to welcome the best tube riders in the world. The Rip Curl Pro Portugal plays a decisive role in the 2012 ASP World Tour.

The wave peak of Supertubos is considered by many the European version of Banzai Pipeline. Located in the central region of Portugal, Peniche is home to some of the best beach breaks of the Old Continent.

Mick Fanning, leader of the world surfing rankings, knows the importance of the Portuguese stage and is ready for the flawless barrels of Supertubos.

"It's one of my favorite places and waves on tour, especially after the waves we scored last year at Supertubos," Fanning said.

"I think that was the best beach break I've ever surfed. I love competing in Portugal. The people are really vocal spectators and go nuts when the comp is on. I can't wait to get back there", adds the former world champion.

Last year, the Rip Curl Pro Portugal featured some of the most perfect waves ever seen in professional surfing, with four days straight of epic tubing waves breaking across the sandbar mere meters from tens of thousands of passionate European surfing fans lining the beach.

The colorful fishing village of Peniche is known for its bustling harbor, ancient chapels and some of the finest surfing in all of Europe. Only the best tube riders will prevail, between 10th-21st October.
