The 6th Annual Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition was successfully held at Imperial Beach, in California. Fifty surfer dogs from across the US competed for the best places, in three categories: small and large dogs and tandem surfing.

Points were given for the dogs’ style, confidence and how long they could ride a wave, with the winner taking a luxury pooch holiday.

Proceeds from the event will be directly channeled to support San Diego area schools through, an online charity that garners funds for classroom projects in need of funding.

Each dog had 10 minutes to catch his or her top two waves and was scored on confidence level, length of ride and overall ability to "grip it and rip it". Winners scored the ultimate pet vacation at Loews Coronado Bay Resort and endless bragging rights.

In the small dogs' division, "Abbie Girl", an Australian Kelpie, took the first spot, followed by "Moo" and "Toby". In the large dogs' category, "Kalani", a Golden Retriever won the event, followed by "Shadow" and "Taj".
