Shark attack: surfboards and surfers are easy targets

A surfer has been attacked and seriously injured by a shark off the coast of Eureka, in California.

The heart of American surfing is under attack by the ocean's predator. In the last months, California has seen several casualties and injuries in the surfing community.

This time, a 25-year-old wave rider suffered a 14-inch bite wound at North Jetty, Humboldt. The injured surfer got support from other riders and was transferred to an ambulance.

After undergoing surgery, he was listed in fair condition. The surfer was attacked in the abdomen and his surfboard was bitten in the center of the deck. When he was taken to the beach, the surfer was in state of shock.
