Three hundred and forty-four beginners broke the Guinness World Record for the world's largest surfing lesson, in Fonte Da Telha, Portugal.

The event was organized by former Championship Tour surfer, Tiago Pires, and raised funds for Nariz Vermelho, a non-governmental organization that brings clowns to sick children.

"I'm speechless for what happened today! Here it is! A new Guinness World Record and, above all, a very well spent day, full of good energy and lots of smiles!" expressed the Portuguese pro surfer.

"A big thank you to all who came to the beach to help us, and to all the instructors and staff because you managed to control this crowd very well!"

The previous world record was set in 2015 by 320 surf pupils who invaded the waves of Bondi Beach, in Sydney, Australia.

The organizers will now send the footage and the photos to the Guinness World Records for official validation.
