Tyler Wright: getting barreled in impossible barrels

Tyler Wright has conquered the Girls Rio Pro 2013, at Barra da Tijuca, Brazil.

The all-Australian final saw Wright coming up against Sally Fitzgibbons, in clean two-foot surf. It was a tight final and both surfers were looking for good results to move up in the rankings.

Wright started building her score with a solid 9.30 wave, but Fitzgibbons kept answering with good performances in the small waves of Rio de Janeiro.

Tyler sealed the deal with a 8.50 ride, leaving Sally needing a 9.63 wave. The Girls Rio Pro 2013 title was moving to the Wright Surfing Museum. Fourth ASP World Tour victory for the surfer from Culburra Beach.

"It's just the way it worked out. I just love catching waves. I just kept building and building and I wouldn't want it any other way. This is just fantastic to come to Rio, I love it".

"It's awesome to move to the top of the rankings, but I'm honestly not thinking about the World Title. I'm just having fun surfing and enjoying each event and we'll see what happens at the end of the year".

The surprise of the Girls Rio Pro 2013 was Bianca Buitendag. The South African surfer reached the Semifinals, her best result ever.
