Miguel Blanco, 21, is one of Portugal's most respected surfers right now. He is a rising star both on a progressive surfing approach and also chasing hardcore slabs and big surf.

With four Hawaiian seasons under his belt and surf trips to all corners of the world - Australia, South Africa, Tahiti, New Zealand, Caribbean, Indo, Maldives - Miguel is making a name for himself and represents the future of the Portuguese generation.

Blanco spent most of the winter in the Pacific and Indian oceans, but before going away, he still managed to score some quality time at home.

"Birds" was filmed during the Portuguese winter and features some of Miguel’s favorite spots, which include Cascais, Cave, Supertubos, and Nazaré.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved surfing's qualification system for the Tokyo 2020.
