"Surfer" was launched in 1998 to promote the Guinness beer. The commercial was shot in Hawaii over a nine-day period by Jonathan Glazer. The Polynesian surfer waits for the perfect wave; drinkers wait 119.5 seconds for the perfect pint of Guinness. The ad was inspired by Walter Crane's 1893 painting "Neptune's Horses". The soundtrack was created by British electronic band Leftfield.
