Rocinha Surfe Escola is not a surf school like many others. It was founded by José Ricardo Ramos, in 1994. Ramos was a balloonist. He worked for the drug dealers. However, one day, Ricardo decided to change his life and turned his head to surfing. Twenty-nine years later, he still doesn't have a place he calls home, but he shares his knowledge with the favela kids from Rio de Janeiro.
