Maho Beach: windsurfing and kitesurfing should be fun, here

Maho Beach is a popular windsurfing and kitesurfing spot located on the Dutch side of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin.

The question is: how could it be possible to enjoy windsurfing and kitesurfing on a beach where airplanes make their final touchdown approach just a few meters from the sandy beach?

The Princess Juliana International Airport is adjacent to Maho Beach, and the runway is only 2,180 meters (7,152 feet) long, so all aircraft must fly over the beach at a very low altitude.

Plane spotters are now more frequent than windsurfers and kitesurfers. Interesting, isn't it?

They check all daily arrivals and departures and wait for the birds to touch down. Sometimes, airplanes almost "kiss" the airport protection fence.

Blown by Engines

In this strange Caribbean sailing spot, there is almost no vegetation due to the power of the jet blast.

Beachgoers are also blown away by the power of the engines as they prepare to take off.

It may be possible to windsurf in Maho Beach, Saint Martin, but kitesurfing should be definitely impossible because kite lines and the kite itself would get in the way of these giant airliners.

The world is a very strange place.
