Shelf cloud invades the skies of Bondi Beach

Surf Videos

Surfers and beachgoers couldn't believe what their eyes were seeing.

A giant arcus cloud flew over the ocean at Sydney's Bondi Beach. Initially, people took pictures with their cell phones, but in a matter of minutes everyone left the beach and heavy rain took over.

The shelf cloud, a type of arcus cloud, is a giant, low, horizontal cloud formation. It is often associated with thunderstorms and rain.
