Citroën Wake the Stadium 2014: Helsinki gets radical

The Citroën Wake the Stadium 2014 was the first ever wakeboarding competition at Uimastadion, in Helsinki, Finland.

Who said an Olympic swimming pool couldn't host a wakeboarding contest? The Wake the Stadium 2014 transformed the Uimastadion into a freestyle playground, with ramps and rails for creative riders.

Madis Bachmann stole the show and the prize money. He was followed by Daniel Matsukevits, Martin Bachmann, Ken Ekblom Johanson, and Ruben Snabb.

The event attracted pro wake, kite, skate and snowboarders from Finland and around the world. The Wake the Stadium 2014 has already been confirmed.

The Helsinki Swimming Stadium was designed by architect Jorma Järvi. It was built for the 1940 Olympic Games, but it was only completed finished in 1947, because of the Second World War.
