Mike Dowdy: shy boy

Mike Dowdy has been announced as the newest member of the Billabong wakeboarding team. The rider from Michigan dominated the Junior divisions for years.

Mike Dowdy, originally from Michigan, has found a second home in the warm waters of Florida. He is the current 2012 King of Wake Junior champion and prepares to enter the Pro divisions with the Billabong logo.

The young wakeboarder has been rehearsing new tricks including a new wake-to-wake double. Dowdy will join Billabong's talented wake team consisting of Raph Derome, Brian Grubb, Shawn Watson, Erik Ruck and Marc Rossiter.

"As a young rider, there are always companies you dream of riding for. From their clothes to their team, I have always been a strong supporter of this company and I am honored and blessed to have the opportunity to partner up with Billabong", says Dowdy.

Dowdy will be focusing on his rookie year as a Pro in the King of Wake series and the Pro Wake Tour, with a little cable thrown in here and there.

"Mike Dowdy will be a force to be reckoned with in Wake for a long time to come. We're stoked to have him flying the Billabong flag", adds Chris Heffner, Billabong Wake manager.
