Harley Clifford and Meagan Ethell have taken out the 2018 WWA Wakeboard National Championships in Monroe, Washington.
The nation's best wakeboarding specialists put their skills to the test in the largest contest of the year. The event has once again exceeded expectations, and the champions have been crowned in front of a large crowd.
The pro wake division was genuinely competitive, but the Australian rider was on a roll, landing three back-to-back double flips which earned him 98 points from the judges.
"I actually can't believe I won that one. I was watching all the boys go up before me. It could have gone either way, but I'll take it," joked Clifford.
"It was unbelievable. It came down to Cori and I. Thanks to the judges for swinging that one my way. I appreciate it."
Despite nailing two stand-up passes, which included a huge double half cab roll and stomped a T/S 1080, Cory Teunissen was only able to get 96 points and had to settle with second place.
On the women's side, Meagan Ethell claimed her second national title after landing a moby dick and a wrapped mute H/S F/S 540 in pass one, followed by a huge roll-to-blind in pass two.
"What a day! All the ladies absolutely crushed! It was such a heavy final. I am thankful to be part of this strong group of women. The introduction of the new four-trick format will continue to progress women’s wakeboarding," added Ethell.
In the pro wakeskate category, Reed Hansen stormed the system with his wake-to-wake 360s, leaving James Balzer and Brian Grubb in the remaining podium places.
"I am really happy to bring home a full-sized eagle from the Nationals this weekend. Balzer and Grubb have always kept it interesting over the years and are showing no signs of letting up," concluded Hansen.
The junior pro men's national title went to Sam Brown.
